An upcoming PS5. Will it be affordable?

In case you are of those gamers who prefer consoles over PC, we have something to tell you. The PlayStation 5 hardware and specs were finally revealed by hardware chief Mark Cerny. Spoiler – good, but still, nothing can compete with a gaming computer.

The new generation of a well-known Sony gaming console is said to be a powerful machine. According to Mark Cerny, PlayStation 5 will be equipped with an octa-core AMD Ryzen processor based on Zen 2 microarchitecture. If this sounds like Chinese to you just know, that is some good shit. At least better than what the PlayStation 4 has.

The powerful processor is accompanied with a custom version of a Navi-based Radeon GPU, as confirmed by Cerny. The Navi GPU will enable hardware support for real-time ray tracing effects, which are used to create more realistic shadows, lighting, and water effects. And to top it all, Sony put into their newest creation a super-fast SSD to make sure nothing lags and freeze and goes as smooth as possible. They claim that any product currently available on the market will perform excellently. Bonus – the PlayStation 4 games will be compatible with the fifth model as well.
With all that hardware you can expect the console to give you solid 4K gaming experience at consistently high frame rates. Finally, console adepts can experience what excellent graphics are and enjoy their games. And they also have a chance to avoid ear bleeding with a new sound system the PlayStation 5 received. Cerny promised that the new console will have dedicated 3D audio hardware to enhance the experience and provide deeper immersion for players. So they say.

It all sounds cool and impressive. But the question is if with all those top-notch specs the PlayStation 5 will be affordable? Cos with all the super-cool-custom-hardware bananas oil we can expect the console to cost a shitton of money. Like it is expected that every new generation will be more pricey, but there is every reason to believe that PS 5 will cost you an arm and a leg. Just think about it. First of all, the hardware the PlayStation 5 has is very good. Good means expensive. Secondly, Cerny, when asked about the price, didn’t feel like spilling the beans. He escaped the answer with vague politic-style phrases. See yourself: “I believe that we will be able to release it at an SRP [suggested retail price] that will be appealing to gamers in light of its advanced feature set.” Doesn’t it sound like bullshit used to avoid the answer?

So, if you got excited about the specs new PlayStation is going to have, start saving now. You may need a decent amount of cash when it’s finally out. Or you will prefer the new Xbox instead?
