The iOS 13.3.1 beta version allows you to disable the U1 chip in iPhone 11, which allows tracking the user’s location even when geolocation services are turned off. This was written by Mashable on January 18 with reference to the journalist Brandon Butch, who noticed a new option.
In early December, cybersecurity researcher Brian Krebs said that the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro running iOS 13.2.3 have GPS modules that collect information on the user’s location even when geolocation tracking is turned off. According to Krebs, the problem occurred due to new hardware components to support Wi-Fi 6, whereas on the iPhone 8 there is no such problem.
He also pointed out that Apple’s security policy provides the ability to disable geolocation tracking completely via Settings> Privacy> Location Services.
An Apple spokesman told TechCrunch later that the new iPhone introduced ultra-wideband communication technology (UWB), which allows you to exchange data and control the location of your smartphone to disable wireless interfaces when they may be prohibited by the laws of a particular state.
