Who among us has not encountered such a situation ‒ you walk and suddenly hear IT, the very melody that has been following you for several days, convulsively pull your smartphone out of your pocket and, finally, you manage to recognize it using Shazam or SoundHound. Yes, we are talking about just such songs.
More than 200 million people a month use the Shazam app to identify songs they’ve heard but don’t know the title. Shazam has published the top 100 most played songs of all time.
The app can identify the song that is playing in real-time in 2-3 seconds.
The technology analyzes the audio segment of a song and combines sound with music in its large-scale database.
The rating was released as an Apple Music playlist. It includes songs that have been recognized by users through the Shazam app the most times in history.
Tones and I’s hit pop single “Dance Monkey” tops the Shazam Top Tracks list with 36.6 million plays since its release in May 2019, followed by “Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Radio Edit)” by Lilly Wood and The Prick & Robin Schulz. The third of the leaders is the track “Let Her Go” from Passenger.
Fun fact: when the application was launched in 2002, the request took 15 seconds to process. Now it takes 2-3 seconds to find out which track is playing from an audio player or other sources.
