Battlegrounds Mobile India was created in place of PUBG Mobile, which was disallowed in 2020 by the Indian government as users’ data privacy was put at risk. According to Ocean Sharma, an Indian PUBG mobile commentator, the launch is scheduled for June.
In its statement, Krafton told that Battlegrounds Mobile India would possess its own “esport ecosystem” with its tournaments and leagues and that it would be free. The game will have its unique features and limited-edition outfits and other stuff.
According to Krafton, the game is going to have features, which are relevant for the Indian market. Parental consent will be needed for kids to play it. To verify the consent children will need to key in their parents’ phone numbers. They will be able to play no more than three hours a day and won’t spend more than Rs 7,000 for in-game purchases. The information will be stored on Indian servers.
Nevertheless, the Indian government’s attitude towards the relaunch of an app that had been banned before remains obscure. Last year it stated it did not allow PUBG Mobile relaunching.
