Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the return of famed guitarist John Frusciante. The current guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who played in the group for the last ten years, will leave the band.
Frusciante repeatedly rejoined and departed from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He joined the band in 1988 after the death of guitarist Hillel Slovak and played on Mother’s Milk (1989), which was a breakthrough for the band. Two years later, the most famous record of the “peppers” Blood Sugar Sex Magik was also recorded with him.
In 1992, Frusciante left the band right during their tour in support of the album and subsequently fought against drug addiction. Six years later, he returned to the RHCP and recorded Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium. In September 2009 Frusciante left again explaining this by saying “musical interests led him in a different direction.”
Together with Klinghoffer, Red Hot Chili Peppers released two albums: I’m with You in 2011 and The Getaway, released in 2016.
