The 2020 VMA Nominations ‒ GAGA, ARIANA GRANDE, THE WEEKND

The VMAs are always super exciting for us ‒ the fans. And this year, in light of recent events from all over the world, the show will introduce two brand new categories. These are: ‘Best Music Video from Home’ and ‘Best Quarantine Performance’.

The Video Music Awards are less than a month away with the show scheduled for Sunday, August 30th. It wouldn’t come as a shock that this year’s leaders are Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga with nine whole nominations each. The beloved Billie Eilish and The Weeknd are each nominated for six awards. In the ‘Video of the Year’ category (watch clip here >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyaa50opddk) the artists nominated are Billie Eilish and her video for the song ‘Everything I wanted’, Eminem and Juice WRLD for ‘Godzilla’, Future and Drake with ‘Life’s Good’, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande with ‘Rain on me’, alongside Taylor Swift’s ‘The Man’, and ‘Blinding Lights’ by the Weeknd.

To reflect the changes in our lifestyles due to all that has happened in 2020, there are now two new categories in the VMAs ‒ ‘Best Music Video from Home’ and ‘Best Quarantine Performance’. The new categories are presented to highlight and give special credit to the artists who have adapted to the new ‘normal’ and still provide content for their fans. The voting in all fifteen gender-neutral categories is now open for the public at http://www.mtv.com/vma/vote/

On the 30th of July MTV released information via Twitter’s new Voice Tweets about who the nominees in the biggest categories are. This year’s VMAs will be live at 8 pm ET/PT on Sunday, August 30th on MTV’s platforms in Brooklyn and New York. The full list for the 2020 VMA nominees is:
