Venezuela crisis deepens

Venezuela opposition on behalf of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido took control over three diplomatic buildings in the United States. The guys finally made a step and claimed their rights (as they understand it).

The State Department spokesman Robert Palladino said that the taken buildings were two military attache installations in Washington D.C. and the Venezuelan consul residence in New York. The Trump administration, according to Palladino, was “pleased to support these requests.” Because democracy must be established!

Juan Guaido’s ambassador to the United States Carlos Vecchio shared the glorious moment with the wide audience on his Twitter account. He posted a video depicting diplomats and military officers (would you look at those happy faces!) walking the corridors of the Venezuela diplomatic properties in the US. In the consul residence in New York, opposition supporters cleaned the walls from the images of disputed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his predecessor Hugo Chavez.

The government of the Venezuela president named the opposition actions a “forced and illegal occupation”. They urged the Trump administration to “immediately reverse said de facto forced occupation.” And they even threw some threads but nobody understood what they were actually promising.

Last week the last American diplomats left Venezuela due to Maduro cut diplomatic ties with the US, if any were left at that point. However, diplomats who stated their loyalty to the Venezuela president still stay in the US to represent the country in the United Nations and the Organization of American States.

The US government started to support the opposition since Guado named himself the interim president in January. Fifty other countries have acknowledged Guado as a legitimate president of Venezuela based on the fact of allegedly flawed electionsan last year.

So the story continues to unfold and we continue to watch the world (or at least Venezuela) burn.
