Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain lost to Turkish Busenaz Surmeneli in the semi-finals with a score of 5:0 at Tokyo 2020. After that, she won the women’s 69 kg bronze medal at the Olympics.
Before losing the semi-finals Lovlina lost to German Nadine Apetz in the round of 16 and then won the match against a double World Championship medalist Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin in the quarter-finals with the score of 4:1.
A 23-year old Lovlina Borgohain has become the third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to have won a medal for boxing in the Olympics.
Having Mary Kom as an inspiration, the bronze winner is focusing now on the preparation for the finals.
