A Dangerous Asteroid Is Approaching Earth
According to experts, a damn huge asteroid will fly to our Earth as close as possible in mid-February 2020. Its dimensions reach from 440 to 990 meters ‒ so it’s a big guy. This fucking event poses some danger to people.
Even though a collision of this asteroid with the Earth is unlikely, NASA classifies this object as potentially dangerous as it can change its orbit due to Earth’s gravity. Smart scientists are still not sure how it all will happen.
This colossus was discovered on October 23, 1995, scientists assigned it number 163,373 (2002 PZ 39). It will fly at a distance of 5.8 million kilometers, which for comparison is 15 times closer than the position of the moon.
NASA scientists note that the object speed at the time of approach will be 57 thousand kilometers per hour, and its trajectory will cross the Earth’s orbit!
Asteroid 163,373 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids which flight paths intersect the Earth’s orbit. These asteroids are considered potentially dangerous for planets.
The local damage during a collision can be caused by meteorites ranging in size from 25 meters to one kilometer. If their diameter is more than one kilometer, a global catastrophe is inevitable.
