Cannabis and Cancer: Useful Properties of Weed

If you want to smoke weed, you should have cancer. Yeah, that’s not a funny theme, but I`m not joking too.

Marijuana (also known as cannabis) is a dried cannabis leaf.

For many centuries, marijuana has been used in folk medicine. The healing properties of cannabis were used to treat various ailments thousands of years before the emergence of European civilization.

Modern scientists have identified biologically active components in marijuana, called cannabinoids. The most studied components of marijuana are the chemical delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (often called THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Other cannabinoids are still under study.

More and more countries are officially authorizing the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Medical marijuana is used to alleviate conditions of seriously ill patients with oncology, suffering from side effects during chemo- and radiation therapy. During courses of anti-cancer therapy, patients are forced to experience severe headaches, vomiting, and nausea, lack of appetite and insomnia.

A series of studies involving people undergoing shity anticancer therapy have shown that medical marijuana can be used to:

Pain Relief:

Marijuana (cannabis) acts similarly to opioids (the strongest painkillers available). And of course, it is used to help people who suffer from cancer. In addition, it can have an anti-inflammatory effect. Some treatment regimens may include both opioids and marijuana.

Decrease the symptoms of neuropathy:

Neuropathy is a medical term for nerve damage, which is a common symptom during chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer. It is a feeling of weakness, numbness, tingling or burning in the arms and legs. Marijuana is indicated to reduce discomfort and pain during neuropathy.

Relieve symptoms of vomiting and nausea

Many people living with cancer experience side effects during chemotherapy. For example, nausea and vomiting. Studies show that marijuana can be an effective medication for the treatment of symptoms of nausea and vomiting. There are also other drugs used to eliminate such discomfort. For example, Dronabinol, a synthetic cannabinoid, which is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Also, there are many people that use cannabis oil.

“It perfectly removes nausea, softens or removes pain. I have practically no ulcers in my mouth in this chemistry (in previous courses with the same medicine, but without marijuana, there were severe ulcers and inflammation of the upper part of the esophagus). Sadness and depression are two relatives of any cancer. These two greatly spoil the lives of both the sick and those around them. Marijuana is very reassuring and amusing ‒ you suddenly notice the colors of life again!” share patients.

In addition to oil, someone smokes industrial marijuana extract through a special device like an electronic cigarette. This is due to the fact that cancer treatment is taking place with unpredictable side effects and the appearance of new health problems. Cancer recovering often has pains of a different nature. Most often in such situations, you have to call an ambulance and go to the hospital.

Also, medical tests (laboratory and animal testing) revealed that the use of marijuana helps to slow down or stop the growth of some types of malignant tumors. This has not yet been conclusively proven, but research in this area is ongoing.

Studies

Israeli professor Lumir Gunas from Hebrew University claims that marijuana (cannabis) has a therapeutic effect in the treatment of glioma, thyroid cancer, colon cancer, and is also successfully used for cancer of the prostate and breast.

Studies conducted on laboratory rodents by scientists from Spain have demonstrated that THC tetrahydrocannabinol contained in marijuana tends to “shut off” the gene responsible for the “aggressive effect” of cancer. This is especially true for cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, and leukemia.

In 2012, scientists from Japan conducted their own research at Daichi University. They found that tetrahydrocannabinol THC can stop the increase of metastasis in breast cancer.

Researchers at a university in London have confirmed the beneficial effects of using tetrahydrocannabinol THC in medical treatment for glioblastoma, one of the worst CNS tumors.

Dr. McAllister from San Francisco, having conducted his research at the Pacific Medical Center, found that cannabidiol CBD, presented in marijuana, can decrease the development of metastases and slow down the increase of breast cancer.

Italian scientists use cannabidiol CBD as an effective adjuvant in the treatment of prostate cancer.

Doctors at Lancaster University have confirmed the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) in treating colon cancer.

Marking marijuana as a narcotic drug significantly limits its research for medical use. Additional testing is needed to fully appreciate the full potential and benefits of using marijuana to improve the quality of life of people with fucking cancer.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) currently considers marijuana and its cannabinoids to be controlled substances. This means that they cannot be legally registered or sold in accordance with federal law. Why are they so fucking boring?

But the use of marijuana for the treatment of certain diseases is permitted in some countries at an official level. For example, in Israel, medical marijuana was legalized in 1999. Since then, Israeli doctors have officially used it in the treatment of various diseases.

And what can I say about cities like Amsterdam? If I had cancer, I would immediately go to live there.

It must be warned that the use of marijuana in the treatment of damn cancer can have side effects. Such as disorientation in space, impaired coordination, the appearance of anxiety and paranoia, and in chronic use ‒ the appearance of an unhealthy dependence on the drug. Some patients taking cannabinoid drugs note a decrease in blood pressure, increased heart rate, and dizziness. These drugs can enhance the effects of sleeping pills and sedatives or alcohol. It may also cause drowsiness, mood changes. But hey, that’s not the point.
