To Make Booze of the Air? Easy!

The American company Air Co has found the way of getting water not from grain, but from the air. Carbon + water is converted into ethanol (C₂H₅OH) using electricity and, as a result – alcohol for premium quality vodka. It is already sold in several New York stores for $ 65 for 750ml.

Stafford Sheehan, technical director of the company, explains that principles similar to plant photosynthesis are used in the manufacture of vodka, but they are even more effective. The device is placed in a regular-sized room. No need to take up huge areas for seeding, to spend fuel on cultivating the land, collecting and transporting grain, moreover: production cleans the air, taking carbon from it and returning oxygen. To produce one bottle of vodka, about 0.2 cubic meters of carbon dioxide is absorbed from the atmosphere, yeast is not required, fermentation and distillation processes are not needed. In addition, Air Co. equipment is working not on gas, but on solar panels located on the roof of the plant.

Entrepreneurs claim that due to the unique production process their vodka can be called one of the cleanest in the world. Subsequently, they plan to make perfumes and other popular products for the production of which ethanol is used.
