Call of Duty and the Russians
The Russians did not like the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which was released on October 25. Why? Let’s find out!
A report on Russophobia in the new part of CoD, which depicts the Russian military forces as terrorists and killers, was released on one of the Russian TV channels called Ren-TV. At the end of the report, the author stated that his team studied the reviews of Western players who were not surprised by the brutal scenes of violence by Russian fighters.
The Russians were so pissed off with it, that they lowered the game rating on Metacritic to 3.5 points. Despite that, the critics praise the game entirely – the average rating from reviewers is now 85 points – this is the highest number for the series since 2011, when Modern Warfare 3 came out, completing the original trilogy. The novelty has become the most highly regarded part of the series over the past 8 years and the main contender for the game of the year 2019.
Also, a Donetsk Downtown location and the tower of Donetsk Airport appeared in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. These are the locations currently invaded by local terrorists with the support of Russian troops.
It is possible that the royal battle will take place there.
Countries and military forces in the game have fictitious names but are quite recognizable.
“From the perspective that the game will be played not only in Ukraine, but also in Bolivia, and in Ecuador … That same Bolivian teenager will know if he did not know before that there is a war in Ukraine, and it can be accepted participation is even virtual,” says the participant of the Donbas conflict, the author of the front-line stories “Dirt”, Sergey aka “Saigon”.
“This is a very well-known game in the world, which is constantly released, and the mention of Ukraine, what was happening with us, about the defenders – at least the world will find out about this,” adds Alexander “Alex_D20”.
