A Chinese 86-Year-Old-Man Has Completed More Than 300 Games
Gaming is getting more and more popular nowadays. However, a lot of people still believe playing games is entertainment just for teenagers. Despite these stereotypes, gaming comes forward as leisure and hobby for all age groups. Xbox’s Beyond Generations initiative, for instance, inspires young and old alike to play together.
Yang Binglin, an 86-year old man from Luzhou, Sichuan Province, China might be a bright illustration of the fact that gaming knows no age limits. He admires playing games on his own and with his family. The man’s grandkids familiarized him with the process on the PlayStation and he couldn’t stop.
Since then, in twenty years, Yang Binglin has completed more than 300 games. He is constantly monitoring all the game releases and makes notes on his own strategy of playing and writes reviews on some games. Most of all he prefers playing horror-themed video games, but actually plays any kind. The 86-year old gamer has got an enviable collection of horror titles, e.g. Resident Evil 7, The Last of Us 2, as well as action games, like Cyberpunk 2027.
In a video from The South China Morning Post Yang Binglin tells that he is not a professional gamer, but just a fan. He does what he likes. In the morning he plays ping-pong, and in the afternoon video games.
He used to be an engineer and has always been interested in technology. He doesn’t use any strategy guides to play. Yang Binglin says he strives to play and learn like a young man and he wants to overcome obstacles. Games inspire him to solve issues in real life too.
Yang Binglin finds great support from his family who approve of his hobby. His granddaughter shares his gaming videos and so far he has got 200,000 followers. He warns young players not to overplay as it can be unhealthy and advises them to learn to manage their time wisely.
