The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards, which will be presented on February 9 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The Irishman
The movie is based on the confessions of a real person: in 2003, before the death, the former American trucker Frank Sheeran, nicknamed the Irishman, said that he was in the service of the mafia, was responsible for communication of the truckers’ union with the mafia and killed dozens of people.
The Irishman was performed by Robert De Niro, who, like other actors, was rejuvenated for some scenes using computer graphics. Co-starring Harvey Keitel, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The film is based on the real story of the brutal murder of the pregnant 26-year-old actress Sharon Tate in 1969, the wife of Roman Polanski, one of the main Hollywood directors of that period. That night changed the world and in many ways made it the way we know it today.
One of the main characters, actor Rick Dalton, whose role is performed by Leonardo DiCaprio, is against hippies. As Tarantino says, Rick is the embodiment of all his worst qualities. It also symbolizes the conservative part of America, which is frightened by radical changes.
The film’s base is Rick’s relationship with his understudy Cliff Booth, performed by Brad Pitt. They are good friends, but also rivals. They live in the Hollywood Hills in a neighboring house with Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski.
Marriage Story
The movie tells about the director Charlie and his wife, actress Nicole, who are in a state of divorce and this throws them into personal and creative extremes.
Parasite
A South Korean comedy-drama film tells the story of Ki-tech Kim, who had long since lost his job and is now eking out a miserable existence with his wife and two graduated children in a miserable basement apartment.
The family is trying to make a living by folding pizza boxes out of cardboard boxes. Once, with the help of a rich friend, his son succeeds in getting into a wealthy family as an English tutor for their daughter.
Step by step, all family members take places of other employees for this family and move to their house, where they feel like almost the rightful owners. At this point there is a dramatic turn, so no spoilers for you 😉
It is a surrealistic satire about the class struggle was the first Korean film to win the main prize of the Cannes Film Festival – the Golden Palm Branch.
1917
Right before the British army’s attack on the Hindenburg Line in the spring of 1917, two young soldiers Blake and Scofield must deliver an order to the frontline to cancel the attack in an almost no time, otherwise, a battalion of 1,600 soldiers will be ambushed, where the brother of one of the heroes serves.
The film was shot in long takes (about eight minutes) and edited in such a way as to look like a single indivisible take, so the camera seems to be following the main characters non-stop.
Jojo Rabbit
The plot focuses on a ten-year-old German boy who has just lost his father. He cannot find a place for himself in this world, and his mother believes that all his problems are only fictitious.
He finds salvation in communication with an imaginary friend Adolf Hitler, who is very different from the world-infamous Fuhrer. But one day the boy finds out that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in the house.
Little Women
The movie tells about the growing up of the four March sisters living in the 1860s in New England during the Civil War in the United States
Joker
The movie, revising the story of the Joker – the main antagonist from the Batman universe, barely appeared on the screens, and many critics have already begun to call him a future legend. At this point, he broke many records.
Ford vs Ferrari
The plot of the film tells about the fierce struggle of Ferrari and Ford in the 1960s for victory in the 24-hour Le Mans race. Under the guidance of designer Carol Shelby, along with racer Ken Miles, Ford should create a supercar that can withstand light and fast Ferrari.
