The Sound of Musical will no longer be on the radio

The end of 2019 will also mark the end of life for the program The Sound of Musical which ran for almost three years on DR P2.

Its host Silas Holst made a post on Instagram where the famous dancer and actor expressed both anger and frustration with the decision to close the program that is dedicated to the music of many popular musicals that will no longer be found among DR’s offerings to the listeners in Denmark.

It was a total surprise for me personally.
For sure!
I didn’t even know that there are people who listen to the music from musicals on the radio. In the 21st century! Are you serious?

Silas is crazy sad about the news and calls DR’s decision both stupid and “a shame”.
The host also mentions that he can’t get his head around the situation as the program has a great number of listeners who love and appreciate it.

The radio seems to share Silas’ frustrations but claims that the closure is a necessary consequence of the changed conditions for DR, which among other things means that 20% of the programs will be saved but more radio channels will be closed, including P8 Jazz.
The Sound of Musical really has a good number of listeners, and is a program that people are happy with, but adjustments and changes have to be made, says the editor for P2 and P8 Jazz Susanna Arpi.
