New Divorces. The Royal Family’s Crisis

2020 began extremely hard for the British royal family. First, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle refused from the high-ranking status members of the royal family and all associated privileges and good bonuses. And now here we see a series of divorces. What have you done with poor Elizabeth II? She is worried while the press shares the details of the dramatic royal life.

Two Royal Divorces

On February 17, Queen Elizabeth II’s nephew, David Armstrong-Jones, announced a divorce with his wife Serena after 26 years of marriage. The spokesperson said they parted by mutual agreement and asked the press to respect their privacy. Who would have thought that a special life does not wait for special people?

Armstrong-Jones, 58, who holds the title of Earl of Snowdon, is the son of Princess Margaret, the younger sister of Elizabeth II, and photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones. His parents divorced after 18 years of marriage. He works in the manufacture of furniture and interior design, he is 21st in a throne line.

So, if you think that everything is different in royal families, you are wrong. Maybe it’s damn normal to change your life when you want and not be held hostage to your choice?

Armstrong-Jones married the Anglo-Irish aristocrat Serena Stanhope in 1993. The couple has a 20-year-old son, Charles, and a 17-year-old daughter, Margarita. The reason why this royal couple decided to divorce is not officially reported. The Daily Mail, citing friends of the couple, says that they have moved away from each other and have recently been living separately.

The announcement of Count and Countess Snowdon was the second news of divorce in the royal family. On February 11, the senior grandson of Elizabeth II, Peter Phillips, fucked out from his wife after 12 years of marriage. The royal couple decided to maintain friendly relations in the interests of their daughters ‒ 9-year-old Savannah and 7-year-old Islay. Believe in friendship after the break? They apparently do.

Phillips, 42, is the son of Princess Anne, the only daughter of Elizabeth II, and her first husband, equestrian Mark Phillips. He became the first child in the British royal family in 500 years who was born in a legal marriage but did not receive the royal title. Phillips works in sports management and has been married Canadian Autumn Kelly since 2008.

The wife was the initiator of the royal breakup but she did not specify the reasons for her actions. Well, the source Vanity Fair rejected this version and said that the couple had been discussing the impending royal divorce for several months and announced it to the royal family back in 2019. Relatives reacted with sadness but understood everything. On the other hand, what could they do? Keep them forcibly with each other? That’s not royal actions.

First Royal Family Divorces in 24 years

Elizabeth II looks upset 🙁

In August 1996, the loudest divorce in the history of the royal family took place: Prince Charles’s divorce from Princess Diana. The breakup was accompanied by scandals in the press.

The collapse of the marriage of a grandson and nephew, according to the British press, upset Elizabeth II. Although divorces in the royal family have long ceased to be a rarity (three of the four children of Elizabeth II divorced), the queen still advocates preserving the marriage.

Knowing the age and status of their relative, it seems to me that it’s not worth upsetting the queen too often. But whose life is more important?

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty’s publication on the life of the royal family, says the Queen believes the divorce is “too easy” and encourages relatives to try to restore relations. She used to say this: “Wait two years and see what comes next,” told Seward to the Daily Mail. Apparently members of the royal family also do not like to go to the psychologist. Although waiting for two years is too much. Why the fuck do I suppose to live with a man or a woman I can’t stand?

The expert added Elizabeth II had hopes for the “marriage fortress” of her grandson and a second person in line to the throne Prince William, who had been married to Kate Middleton for nine years and raised three children with her.

Moreover, in January 2020, the grandson of Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided to relinquish their royal powers and move to Canada. They lost the right to officially represent the royal family and receive government funding. Even though Elizabeth II supported the desire of Harry and Megan to “start a new life,” their move caused a lot of noise in the press and social networks.

And so it turns out. Someone wants to become a prince or princess, and someone just refuses all this royal shit. People rarely can be happy with what they have. Stupid people by the way! 🙂
