Is Putin right this time?

I’m sure many of you guys heard of the latest skirmish between Sir Elton John and Russian President Vladimir Putin?

Elton tweeted that he was upset with Putin’s interview in the Financial Times on saying that Russia does not have any problems with LGBT. He claimed: “I strongly disagree with your view that pursuing policies that embrace multicultural and sexual diversity are obsolete in our societies,” and accused Putin of “duplicity” over his comments.

The whole thing started over the issue of censoring some scenes in Elton John’s biopic “Rocketman”. Dudes in Russia cut off the gay sex scenes.
Later on, Putin replied to Sir Elton (not directly, of course) saying: “I deeply respect him, he is an amazing musician. He’s coming over to us with his concerts and we do love listening to his songs. And I think he is mistaken. I was not hypocrite saying that we don’t have any problems with LGBT rights in Russia. Really calm, totally unbiased attitude.”

“Some things do appear excessive to us… They claim now that children can play five or six gender roles.”

“But listen, let’s give children a chance to grow up, become adults, and then decide who he/she is, gender-ish. Leave the kids alone (off topic – do you also have that song by Pink Floyd stuck in your head? lol). The problem is, that part of society aggressively imposes its point of view on the overwhelming majority. We need to be more loyal, more open and transparent to each other, that is what I mean. We need to respect everyone, this is true, but it is impossible to impose one’s point of view by force.”

“Let everyone be happy, we have no problem with that. But this must not be allowed to overshadow the culture, traditions and traditional family values of millions of people making up the core population.”

There’s more crap in the shitpile of that story, you can dive in for more if you wanna.  But here is what got me thinking: is Putin right in his words? He also said that liberal governments liked to “dictate” LGBT values that “millions of people making up the core population” opposed.

Every now and then we hear about LGBTQ. All over the Internet, the TV, outside. Sometimes I feel the world does not have any other problems. I’m sure we will bring it up in other articles here on TWIFT. But do share your vision with me! I really want to know what people think of it!
