Is It Fair For a Trans Woman to Win a Cycling Competition?

Or is it fair for a trans woman to win any other competition in sports? Simple but still a hard question. Here is the thing…

Trans-cyclist Rachel McKinnon continues to win championships and her opponents are getting pissed off. Cycling’s first transgender world champion is now under a shit storm of critics. She has been called a fraud and cheater.

In some way, people may be right. But the cyclist herself says this is a discrimination of human rights. As everybody is treating her as a female. In many Olympic sports, the performance gap is greater in a single-sex sport between the first and the eighth than it is between the first man and the first woman. “This is much bigger than a sport in that it’s the proxy for all trans inclusion in society,” she says. “Talk of bathrooms has shifted into the sport by people who don’t care about the sport, so it’s clear that this issue is bigger than sport.”. But at the same time, many women cyclists (meaning born being women) are quitting and just don’t want to compete with Rachel McKinnon because they believe it’s absolutely unfair for a trans woman to take part in the competitions.

What do you think about this situation? How should it be?
