How much time does one need to stay in history?
Seven. Freaking. Seconds!
The Southampton forward Shane Long scored the fastest goal in Premier League history.
On Tuesday evening he sent the ball into the net passing the Watford goalkeeper 7.69 seconds after the opening whistle.
And all that thanks to the lame kickoff of the Watford defender Craig Cathcart and a superb reaction of the new record holder. Luckily, the game ended in a draw and no one will blame the defender guy (but that’s not certain). Or they will blame the goalkeeper who wasn’t ready for that one-on-one.
The previous record was held by the former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King for 19 years. He scored his memorable goal in just 9.82 seconds.
