The choice of the company fell on the Cary Towne Center shopping mall in Cary, North Carolina. The company’s current headquarters are based near the new 980,000 square-foot campus.

The purchase of the 87-acre site from Turnbridge Equities and Denali Partners cost Epic Games $95 million. Interestingly, in 2019, Turnbridge Equities and Denali Partners acquired the future Carolina gaming center for just $31.5 million.

Epic Games has been based in Carey since 1999, with a new headquarters slated to go live in 2024. According to preliminary data, the mall game development space will include both recreational facilities and office buildings to ensure the widest range of use.

Construction on the new headquarters will begin this year, while Epic Games remains in its original location on Crossroads Boulevard for now. Epic’s development plans outline the demolition of some of the buildings that have lost their functionality, although the exact date of this event is still unknown. The company has about 50 offices around the world, but the main base of operations will be a former shopping center.

Epic Games is currently valued at approximately US $17.3 billion, thanks in large part to their greatest hit, Fortnite, which has over 350 million subscribed players all around the world.
