Eco-Friendly Vessel for Bill Gates
The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates bought an eco-yacht for $644 million. The yacht is powered by hydrogen fuel and can reach speeds of up to 17 knots. Its only discharge is … water.
The name of this beauty is Sinot Aqua and it has a futuristic design developed by a company from the Netherlands. The ship was first introduced last year at a show in Monaco.
The five-deck yacht is 112 meters long, it is designed for 14 passengers and 31 crew members. Aqua is equipped with a swimming pool, helipad, spa, and gym.
Liquid hydrogen engine, due to which the yacht has a speed of 17 knots (32 km/h) and can float 3,750 kilometers without refueling, is located under decks in two tanks with vacuum insulation weighing 28 tons.
Hydrogen cooled to -253 °C interacting with oxygen generates energy for two engines with a capacity of one megawatt.
Aqua is the first yacht acquired by a 64-year-old billionaire. Gates previously rented them.
