Koepka, Olesen and scandals…

Brooks Koepka is a world-famous golfer and the best professional in the world of golf. Players of the first official tournament in Scotland in 1744 could confidently agree with this. Yes, that’s right, because golf is almost the only sport where there is no difference between generations. But this is also changing with time.

The 29-year-old American, two-time winner of the US Open Golf Championship, appeared naked on the cover of the ESPN sports portal on September 4. Such a showing up in the public world of the athlete caused a lot of negative reviews among the fans and colleagues of Brooks Koepka. So the golfer had a lot of criticism and accusations.

“Many Twitter and Instagram followers asked me how I could allow such an act. After all, individuals such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus would hardly have decided on this,” — wrote Brooks Koepka about the reaction to his scandalous photos.

Brooks Koepka is not the only athlete who creates a sensation with his images on the covers of rating magazines. It is known that 17 athletes and sports groups who also excited the public with images in the nudes style.

Among golfers, Koepka is not the first to show his body. So, nine-time world champion Gary Player at the age of 77 years took off his clothes in front of cameras in 2013. And the Norwegian golfer Suzann Pettersen became one of the nude models in 2012.

It is worth noting that none of the golfers at the time of the photoshoot was as successful in sports as Brooks Koepka, who became the Player of the Year in the American tournament PGA Tour.

The first athletes to develop 13 golf rules in 1744 could have a heart attack from the headline of the modern press, where world champion Koepka poses with the cup completely naked!

Another resonant case that doesn’t leave traditionalists alone is the court case of Thorbjørn Olesen, the five-time winner of the PGA European tour, who occupies 68th place in the global rating of golfers.

On September 18, a London coronation court accused Danish athlete Thorbjørn Olesen of sexual harassment. Golfer flew by plane to the American city of Memphis being intoxicated. During the flight, Olesen molested a woman by kissing her neck, and also urinated in the airplane corridor. Danish golfer is currently accused of sexual harassment, including imprisonment. However, Olesen doesn’t consider himself guilty. All the charges against him, the golf star denies.

Golf, which for decades has been considered a sport with high moral standards, has now entered a difficult period. It’s hard to forget the sex scandal involving Tiger Woods in 2009 or the addiction of Dustin Johnson, which caused the 2014 American PGA tournament to be suspended. Stories with doping, drug addiction, sexual scandals are increasingly becoming the focus of attention in the field of golf. And the development of information technology, the Internet and social networks only accelerates the process of exposing sins that modern golfers have.
