$4.36 Billion Spent By Gamers Only
Gamers Spent $ 4.36 Billion on Black Friday Weekend. The Gamesindustry.biz, citing data from the SuperData analytical firm, reports that this year, gamers spent a record of $ 4.36 billion on games in a period from Black Friday to Cyber Monday.
Sales growth moved to 9% comparing to the same period last year. All thanks to such major releases as Death Stranding and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, as well as huge sales in digital stores and in-game content discounts.
Most of the revenue came from shareware games that earned $3.3 billion in in-game purchases during the mentioned period. This is 13% more than in 2018. Prepaid PC content brought in $ 300 million.
According to SuperData, the in-game purchases generated 79% of total digital sales revenue in the US last year. It is expected that this year’s numbers will not change significantly. However, analysts predict the continuation of the growth of spending by gamers.
Moreover, in 2020 the revenue from gaming subscriptions, such as the Google Stadia and Xbox Game Pass, can grow by 47% (to 1.15 billion dollars).
